Frequently Asked Questions

Is NORU dishwasher safe?
Yes — top rack, every time. Unlike wood or bamboo, NORU's compressed wood fiber composite won't warp, crack, or swell with repeated dishwasher use.

What is a wood fiber composite cutting board?
Wood fiber composite boards are made by compressing wood fibers with food-safe resins under high pressure. The result is a dense, non-porous surface that's naturally antibacterial and dishwasher safe.

Is NORU antibacterial?
Yes. The non-porous surface prevents bacteria from penetrating — unlike wood grain, which harbors bacteria in micro-cuts over time.

How does NORU compare to Epicurean?
Both use composite materials. NORU adds non-slip rubber corner grips and a deep juice groove — features Epicurean's standard line doesn't offer.

How do I care for my NORU board?
Dishwasher or warm soapy water — that's it. No oiling, no seasoning. Store upright in a ventilated area. Avoid steel wool and abrasive pads.

Will my board get knife marks?
Light surface marks are normal over time. A light sand with fine-grit sandpaper restores the surface. Marks don't affect antibacterial performance or lifespan.

Can I use it for heavy chopping?
Yes for everyday cuts — slicing, dicing, mincing. Avoid cleaver/hacking motions, which can leave deeper marks.

The color looks different from photos — is that normal?
Yes. The wood fiber deepens naturally with use. This is a normal characteristic, not a defect.

Are the tiny particles coming off safe?
Yes — completely food-safe. NORU sheds no plastic microparticles. Any fine particles that may ever appear are food-safe wood fiber — far less than solid wood, and nothing like the plastic that plastic boards shed into your food.

My board has a slight curve. How do I fix it?
Stand it upright at 90° on a damp surface overnight — it should flatten by morning. If not, place curved-side down on a damp towel overnight.
