NORU was born from frustration.

We'd oiled our wood boards, replaced our plastic boards, and scrubbed our bamboo boards. Every cutting board we tried had a tradeoff we had to live with.

Then we found wood fiber composite — used in professional kitchens for decades but almost unknown to home cooks. It's dishwasher safe. It's antibacterial. It doesn't need oiling. And it's gentle on knives.

We decided to bring it to your kitchen, at a price that makes sense.

NORU means "to ride" in Japanese — we ride the surface between function and simplicity. Every board we make is built to work hard and stay out of your way.
